Briefing
Sharechat originated as an internal initiative within WoodWing in 2016. We formed a team of six and adopted a startup-style approach, wearing multiple hats. Our primary objective was to simplify file sharing while introducing a unique feature: facilitated discussions on the shared files within dedicated channels. The aim was to enhance collaboration and streamline the feedback-gathering process for any ongoing projects.
Results
Following our launch on Product Hunt, we gained momentum and attracted clients who utilized the software. However, at that point, the application was still in its early stages and required additional resources, both funds and personnel—to realize its full potential. Unfortunately, WoodWing lacked the confidence that the project would be a success, leading to the stagnation of the initiative, with progress halting at the designs showcased on this page.
My role
In my role as the visual designer for this project, I created the logo, the website and the interface designs for the application itself.
Reflecting on the experience, I recognise numerous aspects I would approach and design differently if I were to work on this project today. But it was a valuable learning journey. Due to our compact team size, we were compelled to think like product managers, strategically considering where to add value and how to efficiently manage our resources. At that moment in time, I had not yet assumed the role of design lead.
